Grape Farms and the New Wine Market
In recent decades farming of grapes has not been the primary concern in the minds of the majority of wine enthusiasts in the world. Of course where and how grapes are grown and harvested has been a root issue for all of wine history, but modern wine drinkers have taken the vast changes in the agronomy behind wine for granted. Pesticides and mass farming techniques can have short term success in creating
outstanding wines and even outstanding values. But winemaking is something that has been here for thousands of years and may still have thousands to go. Short term considerations with something as delicate as farming may mean disaster in the future.
As people began to think about all of this, the trend to put the farming of the grapes first in consideration of good wine increased greatly in the last years. In 2009, if you look carefully, you can find the world’s best wines that are farmed in sensible fashion. It takes some work to find these wines, and that is where the new wine market at the Inn at the Black Olive comes in. We will be selecting a limited variety of the world’s best wines, both in quality and in value. You will become part of the discovery process of the new wave of good wine worldwide. Our customers will have the inside scoop. Starting in March. Looking forward to seeing ya.
